SSL / TLS Checker
Inspect public TLS certificate identity and validity metadata from a bounded handshake.
Run SSL / TLS Checker
Public targets only. No credentials, changes or anonymous active security testing.
What this check does
- Public target resolution
- TLS certificate handshake
- Identity, issuer and validity metadata
What it does not prove
- Not a full cipher/protocol audit
- No private-key inspection
- No guarantee of trust or application security
Interpret the returned state
PASS means the endpoint returned evidence within its named boundary. REVIEW, WARN and FAIL must be read alongside that evidence; they are not automatically vulnerabilities. UNKNOWN means the observation could not establish the answer.
Why it matters
Certificate metadata helps explain expiry and identity questions. The API returns an observation; a PASS is not a complete certificate-chain or TLS-posture certification.
Common review questions
- The certificate identity differs from the expected hostname.
- The expiry date needs review.
- A successful handshake does not prove all clients will trust every chain.
Certificate dates are not the whole TLS decision
Read the hostname and certificate subject alongside the observation time. Do not treat a displayed issuer name as a trust guarantee.
Review the validity interval and plan renewal before expiry. A failed handshake may instead reflect upstream availability or network policy.
Use a scoped review when you need chain, protocol and deployment context. Those questions exceed this free observation.
