Platform context

Platform, identity and freshness fields show what the record actually reports.

Synthetic public representation of current Endpoint fields
  • Windows, macOS or Linux label where reported
  • Hostname or device identity
  • Last observation and user/site context where supplied

Platform is one field in a larger record

A platform label helps an IT team choose the right follow-up, but it is not the whole device story. Pair it with the device identity, source, age and verification status shown by the record.

Read the identity before the category

  • Confirm the hostname or device identifier belongs to the intended environment.
  • Check whether a logged-in user or site context was actually reported.
  • Treat missing fields as unknown rather than filling them from assumptions.

Why the boundary matters

Cross-platform visibility is useful for an internal inventory of observations. It does not, by itself, prove that every version, control, patch or application is represented. The current product remains a private preview with an evidence-led scope.

A useful review question

For each record, ask: what did the system observe, when did it observe it, and what decision is safe to make from that observation? That question keeps platform context connected to action without implying unsupported automation.
